Diego Funes, choreographer. He trained in gymnastics from the age of four and competed in national championships as a teenager. Around that same time, he fell in love with dance and got accepted to The School of American Ballet. He went on to dance with the Cincinnati Ballet, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Basel Ballet and Baletto del Sud. After touring in Europe, he returned to the US to dance in such shows as "Cats," "Hello, Dolly!," "Riverdance," "Anything Goes" and "A Chorus Line." His other performing credits include "The Radio City Christmas Spectacular" and numerous videos and performances for MTV. In 2006, Diego founded The De Funes Dance Company, as a home for his unique choreographic style, which utilizes his ballet and gymnastic background and the many international influences of his life and travels. As a teacher, he instructs teenagers and professional dancers in classical and contemporary form and stretch techniques. Diego currently resides in New York City.
Diego has danced with legendary music artists Whitney Houston, Will Smith and Liza Minnelli. As a choreographer, his credits include the film "P.S. I Love You," starring Academy Award winner Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler. He has also choreographed productions of the musicals "Beauty and the Beast," "Hello, Dolly!," and "The World Goes Round," "Zorba!," "Leader of the Pack," the first New York revival of "Subways Are for Sleeping" and shows for Tokyo Disney.
