The Royal New Zealand Ballet premieres new ‘Coppélia’
The curtain rises on a new version of Coppélia at the Royal New Zealand Ballet in Wellington, New Zealand on Thursday, April 17.
RNZB Ballet Master Martin Vedel has choreographed this new take on the much-loved comic ballet originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Arthur Saint-Léon. He has refashioned the ballet for 21st century audiences while still focusing on the ballet’s timeless values such as true love, devotion and friendship.
After opening in Wellington, Coppélia will later tour to Palmerston North, Invercargill, Dunedin, Napier Rotorua, Takapuna and Auckland City.
